Yoga For Seniors

This is an 'on the mat' gentle + slow vinyasa style class designed to introduce yoga postures and meditation practices to help reduce stress, improve focus, build strength, increase flexibility and engage in community. Modifications are offered. Class is FREE for seniors 55+. Room temp is ambient.

Founded in 2010, Shri is the only yoga outreach organization of its kind in Rhode Island, serving adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, veterans, children in schools, hospitals and shelters, incarcerated youth, men and women in recovery, in clinics - and more.

With their unique S-H-R-I curriculum, which combines an innovative approach to movement-based yoga classes with community building, mindfulness and character education components built in, Shri's measured impact and outcomes are improving lives across state lines. Shri (or Shree/Sri) in Sanskrit is broadly defined as "life-affirming energy," or "that which diffuses light, radiance and abundance."

This class takes place onsite at The Woods, however registration is through our partner studio, SHRI YOGA. To register for this class, please visit and follow the steps below: 

  • Click on "Classes" and scroll down to "Wednesday Senior Class at The Woods"

  • Click "Sigh Up"

  • Click "Create New Account" which includes creating a password

  • Fill in ALL the information - it may not work if you just fill in the *required information* fields

  • Click "I Agree" at bottom of page

  • Review the Liability Waiver on the next page and click "Accept + Sign Waiver"

  • Use your mouse to sign the waiver

  • On the next page, choose the "Senior Project" $0 option and click "Proceed to Checkout"

  • On the next page, click "Place Order"

  • A confirmation box will appear and that means you are registered!
