Crow Pose Workshop

Crow is an arm-balancing pose that will challenge you to focus on balance and face your fear of falling. It's typically the first arm balance we try in yoga and at The Woods, we jokingly refer to it as a "party trick". For most of us though, the first attempt at an arm balance isn’t successful (or pretty), and that makes this type of pose challenging to the body AND the ego. Getting into the pose can feel nearly impossible—until it doesn’t. This workshop is designed to get you there!

Talia will lead you through wrist strengthening drills and an effective warm-up sequence to prepare your body to take flight. You will learn the variations of Crow Pose including Crane Pose, Baby Crow, Side Crow, and One Legged Crow. You will learn modifications and progressions for getting into Crow Pose as well as transitions into, and out of the pose, that you might try during a vinyasa flow class.

Crow Pose teaches you to create connections between your arms and knees, abdominals and spine, mind and body. It offers you an opportunity to feel both strong and flexible, motivating you to challenge yourself in other ways. Practicing this pose will result in strengthened abdominal muscles, arms, and wrists, plus a stretch in your upper back and inner groin. But perhaps even better, you'll enjoy the thrill of landing Crow Pose and the confidence that comes with facing your fears and holding it all together while simultaneously letting go!
